Distributor

Hi all
Sorry to raise more distributor questions - I promise I have done a search and tried to find answers that way!

My Beat has just passed the Mot for the first time in 3 years and is ready to go. However I have just found that my early batch distributor has signs of brown dust. This raises a number of questions - can anyone advise on the following:
- Can I continue to drive the car - do they continue for a while/have other signs before failure?
- I see that new distributors are listed in Japan on ebay. These will end up costing £500 ish once delivery and tax is included. Can I get a new one a cheaper way - is there a uk Honda dealer that will order one for me perhaps?
- Does anyone have a later good one that they will be willing to sell me?
- Are the distributors made after batch 3828 completely free of this problem - could I buy a second hand one with confidence?
