Hello Beaters!

Beepy's back bumper is coming loose. It's cracking around the reg plate, too, so it's going to need replacing soon.
Can anyone give me a rough estimate of how much a new panel might be?
*squeezes eyes shut and sticks fingers in ears...*

The poor guy does seem to have been in the wars lately. :(

Hi Tamsin,

Long time since I've seen you on here, hope everything is ok...

I recon Steve M will be able to give you a price but I would think you will want to be sitting down when you get told...

Might be worth putting a post in the wanted section...

You never know, someone might have one laying around that they can sell you...

Or, you could see how much it would cost to get one 2nd hand sent from Japan, postage would be a bit expensive but Fahd might be able to bring one over for you in one of the cars he has come over...

If it's just comming loose, then the fixing bolts are behind the black trim inserts, might be worth checking the bolts are tight first, then have a look on the net at these people,

http://www.bdir.co.uk/ims501.htm

they repair bumpers etc so might be worth a try....

There is a company that specialises in repairing plastic bumpers but I can't find them at the moment, if I do then I'll post the details for you.

Hope this helps

Adrian.

I don't think new ones are available any more. Can you not repair it and spray it. My one was a little worse and I sorted it out.

A rear bumper would seem to still be available @ £299.33.

But I think that is now in primer and would require painting.

Hi Adrian! It has been a while since i last checked in, yep - need to slap self on the wrist for being a bit negligent of The Little Guy recently (ie: only getting stuff done when it absolutely has to be) and there's quite a few aesthetic and non-urgent things mounting up (largely due to my hopelessness at managing money as much as anything :o How do you guys manage it? you always seem to be on top of things the moment something goes wrong).

That panel place looks interesting... that was quite a ding in your bumper, Adam!! Although the bolts are coming loose like Adrian mentioned, the panel is actually starting to split as well, and the paint is peeling off as a result. Was yours split as well? It looks pretty knackered from the photo! :)

Thanks for the quote Steve - was bracing myself for something along those lines (but sort of hoping it might be the right colour in the bargain! :D ).

Cheers fellas!! Will have a think about the different options. It's being held on with duct tape at the moment - tres stylish... Poor Beepy.

Tamsin,

I have a rear bumper that Gary (Beastie Boy) let me have a while ago. In the event, my repair shop managed to get a new one under the insurance, so I still have Gary's old one. If Gary's OK about it, you could have that one. It needs a little work and it's silver, so would need painting, but it wouldn't be as dear as a new one.

Why don't you contact Gary and if he agrees, we could arrange something.

John:p

Hi Tamsin
sorry I've not got back to you sooner, been in Barcelona for a while.
Anyway, if the bumper is any good to you, I'm sure John will sort it out with you. Re-payment... if you just make a suitable donation to the club... it's yours OK
cheers
Gazbo

PS I've still got front bumper in excellent condition + 2 really good seats + mats, must go due to relocation if anyone's interested, please email gazbo@zebrastudios.co.uk
