View Full Version : Rusty Screws
Hi Eyeryone,
Please forgive if this is an old question but...
Phil very kindly sent me on a rear window (which I can see out of!!!) and I am in the process of replacing the old one.
The hood screws are fairly worn/rusty and I would like to know if anyone can recommend shiny new ones please?
I'm sure standard flat screws would be fine but shiny ones would be so much nicer...
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
Best thing I can suggest it contact Phil again,
He will probably be able to come up with a suggestion, even if it is a case of remove one and pop down to your local B&Q (or simlar) to get a pack of stainless ones...
Let us all know how you get on as I'm sure others would like to do the same thing...
Hope this helps,
Adrian

I have enquired about the hood screws at Honda.
They tell me that they're £18 each, that's EACH!
I think there's 11 in total, so that's a total of £198.
So be very careful when removing and putting them back in, they strip their threads very easily.
I'm trying to find an alternative and will let you know if I find something.
I'm thinking of putting star or allen bolts in as a security measure.
I suppose you can put any type of screw/bolt in, as long as you don't put your tonneau on when the roof is down.
You definately need the 2 press stud ones nearest the doors though, for when the roof is up.
The size of the bolts look like they are M5 X 20mm. But measure one first.

Bl##dy Hel!...... :explode:
Steve M, can you check this for everyone??
Although, knowing how Dealers work sometime that is probably what you will come back with also....
We have a company that comes in to do our fastners at work every now and again, If I remember when they next come in I'll see if they can come up with anything...

Hi All
There are 9 screws on the outside of the hood, 3 each side and 3 along the back.
And they are £2.24 each

Well thats a bit cheaper then Steve....
At that price, I'll probably have a new set myself soon as well...
£198 - £20.16 = £177.84 towards more bits for the car.... :bounce:
Ta for that steve
Adrian...
Hi Steve,
Thanks for clearing that up.
Dixon Honda told me they were £18. I said that's not bad for the full set, and they said they're £18 each.
I thought that was far too expensive.
I will be getting some too.
Thanks,
Dion
PS I think they meant the 2 fasteners nearest both doors that are £18 each.
Hi Steve,
Can you point me in the right direction to get these screws please or are they from your good self?
Thanks Everyone.

Dave

Just wondering about the part number for these screws? I cant make out what number it is in the parts manual. Also is there a different number for the four inside? They are the exactly the same screw just a different length.
Thanks

The ones that go round the edge of the rood are 90308-SS1-023 (item 15 on page 1- L15)
The ones inside on the back panel are 90313-SS1-013 (item 11 on page 1- L13)
Hope this helps

Thanks Steve!
Just wanted to be sure before I put in the order- I didn’t want to end up with the wrong ones!
P.s. thanks for the torque settings you sent me :D
