Going to look at a Beat, What should I look out for?
Right, I'm going to look at a Beat at a Dealer. Now to be fair I am really just gonna use the guy to actually drive one of these great little motors with the view to buy in a couple of weeks. But I have a few queries if you could help me . Thanks.

1. I want the best a can get for under 4.5k so what sort of milage should I be after. (the dealers one is 30,000miles which I thought sounded pretty good)

2. Is there any problems with "clocked" beats? can I trust the milage?

3. What should I be looking for that needs to have been done? cambelt is an obvious one but what else goes?

Thanks for help guys. Its been about 6 months of scrimping but I am almost there......can't wait!!!

If you are in coventry, you could do a lot worse than pop along and see steven finnegans red beat with hard top (http://www.u-ukhbc.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=533)

Or our technical guru steve manser has one (or two?) for sale (http://www.u-ukhbc.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=527) for the red one, and theres a yellow one too i think!

Buying a known car from someone on here is a bit safer than going to a garage, as you can check back for any problems they may have had with it etc.

There are a few posts on here telling you what to look for and known problems (dizzys, cambelts, waterpumps etc)

I dont believe clocking happens too much over here, they tend to be fairly low milage cars for their ages anyway.
