View Full Version : Various beat issues

I left my beat stored for 5 years and certain problems have come up concerning MOT
The first is flexible brake hoses, can anybody help - does anybody supply them?
Second issue is cam belt replacement which the local garage are quoting about £1000 for
Incidentally the car is exceedingly low mileage but despite low mileage the cam belt hasn’t been changed during the 15 years I’ve owned it. Presumably wise to do so ?
Would be grateful if anybody can help with either of these issues
Jeff

The Genuine Honda flexible hoses are discontinued in Europe.

They are Beat specific parts 46430-SS1-003 Rear & 46410-SS1-003 Front.

Your only chance would be either Japan or some used ones if there are any breaking beats about.

Otherwise getting some made up as braided stainless steel hoses.

Many thanks Steve. So far I’ve managed to find a firm in Germany who will make some up for me if I supply details.

I’m also trying to get the price down on a cam belt replacement.
The garage I usually use want to take the engine out to do the job although I have seen the description on the Honda Beat Club site for doing it with the engine in situ. In the end I don’t know which would be the cheaper option in terms of time.
Anyway once again thanks for your help

Honda dealer for cambelt.....quoted £250 Inc belt, mine was more due to seized bolts. Water pump best done at same time along with tensioner if yours is that over due. Allow up to 8-9 weeks for pump , around £100 -120? depends on stock in Europe. Don't assume prices on eBay etc are cheaper.

Thanks a lot.
I’m being quoted a great deal more than that so will have a look around .

You certainly don't need to remove the engine to do the cambelt and probably if you did you would create a lot more issues with seized or snapped bolts on things that don't really need to be undone.

Its about 4 to 5 hours to replace the timing belt.
