F#@*, I did a thing. Broken Valve cover bolt - Replacements source?

So the title kind of says it all! I am in the middle of a timing belt change (which I have been documenting and will make a detailed how to with photos for the group) and I was reassembling things tonight when the worst happened. :( I was tightening the valve cover bolts down and one of the long ones snapped right off. I admit I was using a torque wrench set to the 7.3 ft/lbs recommended but either I tightened too fast (don't think so) or the bolt was just too brittle. It looks to have fully seated and then broke off 95 percent of the threads in the head. :explode:

I'm not asking for advice on extraction because I have plans for that since I am a machinist, not looking forward to it by any means (it's always a nightmare) but I should be able to figure something out for this specific case. What I AM looking for is information for getting a replacement bolt. I haven't looked up the part number from the parts list yet but that is just a formality. I really need a source that is easy to deal with so I can order one (actually, probably two since I'm assuming the other one might also be brittle) and while I wait for that to come I will get to the task of extracting the broken section.

I've used them successfully. Got my parts fast and economically.
Or you could just weld a new short bolt to the end of the old broken one.

I have used http://www.lingshondaparts.com/lings_part_number_search_A10.php before, canny if you need to search by part number.

I was going to say "with the part number your local Honda dealer can just order one up", but then just double-checked your location and saw you are in Atlanta. Easy just to machine one, just a few minutes on the lathe and then mill the hex head. Hell you could probably even botch one with a long bolt and then strategically placed locking nuts and washers.

So I inquired with JP-Carparts.com because the part cost isn't that bad if it is accurate. The price was a bit higher on LingsHonda but still rather good so they also seem to be an option as well. If the bolts end up being hard to get or really pricey (and the prices listed are way off) then I will probably go with Stu's suggestion and just fab one up. At that point I would probably make two so that they are both new and not brittle (assuming the other one might be brittle).

I'll let you know what I hear back and when it all goes through I'll post a little walk through of the process I end up going through just for posterity. Thanks for the ideas!
