Water trapped in hood rubber seals....

... you know, the ones above the side windows, that deposit their tube-full of rainwater on your (and passenger's) leg the moment you move off. And carry on for the rest of the journey till they're empty. :)

Anyone have a simple solution, please?

simple but not cheap or get a new hood made thats slightly wider that worked for me

Parking facing downhill seems to work for me.

Haven't quite worked out why yet, will probably have to have an experiment with a hose pipe and a hill.
