Well,
Having sold my beat to buy a civic type R, i have today sold the CTR!
I had done just 1100 miles in 4 months, so it wasn't really getting used!

I thought of getting a beat again, as they are the best plaything you can have, but after having a CTR a beat may seem a bit pedestrian!

So.........

Armed with a bit of info, i am about to endevour on the ultimate beat conversion, its been talked about on here many times, but no one has done it.

Motorbike engined beat!!!

I am looking at 160Bhp blackbird engine in a beat, but i need a few things first!

Anyone got a cheap beat with a blown engine?

Anyone got a wrecked blackbird with a good engine?

I'm quite serious about this, any the new website will feature a progress page on whats happening so far! I just need a name for it!

Project BlackBeat? (ooooh metaflake black paint job??)
Project Beaten? Project Nuts?

Ideas?

Sold the CTR... now I didn't expect to hear that one this soon......

I've just had a quick look on e-bay, I know this is a whole running bike but since I know nothing about them thought I would ask anyway...

Is this the type you want ??
e-bay 2419290856 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2419290856&category=9806)

The only problem I can see with this project is connecting the engine to the gearbox... Although with some thought, anything is possible...

Sounds like it will be making mine look plain though. (come on brain think of some new ideas..) but with the work that will have to go into it then I think it will deserve to get more attention than mine does...

The engine and box are both replaced, and the drive goes via a LSD to the prop shafts (chain driven!!)

I'm not sure about reverse though!

Reverse...

Just stick a handle on the front and lift until you are facing the right direction...:p

Well it used to work with the Peel when it was around...

you could also place an early crx/civic vtec engine in
i have seen a picture of that in a japanese classic car magazine,
but don't know wich one.
the use bike engines also for the kitcars so the will have solved the reverse gear i schould think.

I was thinking of some kind of electric reverse, as its rare you have to go far to turn a beat! With 160BHP you just need enough room to get the back end round!!

You could go for independent brakes for the front wheels...

Lock one of them up and then floor it..lol

Just a thought...:p

Have a look at

Allen's Performance R&D (http://www.allensperformance.co.uk)

Powertec (http://www.powertecracing.com)

Both companies that specialise in motorbike engined cars/technology.

Cheers steve, very useful links

I'll be contacting them next week sometime.

Thats the reversing sorted, and i'm tempted to look at dry sumping and presenting the cooler to the air intake vents.
