Hi all,
Just acquired a 1993 beat a week ago, pictures attached. I've ordered a new hood from Robben via European trimming and want to get the wheels refurbished. Ive been quoted £300 from a local company who appear to do a top class job, how does this sound price wise, and are these the original alloys?
I love the car its so much fun and I intend to restore it to its former glory, any and all advise much appreciated.

Welcome aboard Dave!
The fitting cost is about right for a good job, I think I paid 270 about 10 years ago.

That front bumper looks interesting, mugen perhaps? (Steve will know!)

Good luck with the restoration and keep the pics coming!

Hi Dave,

Definately a nice front bumper {jealous}

wheels aren't original but do suit the car - are they 13" front/14" rear, and what widths? £300 sounds a lot for a wheel refurb, might be worth shopping around...

Welcome here!

Looking good! Looks like a Mugen front bumper.
Are the wheels going to be red again?

May i ask what you have paid for the new top?

Hi All,
I paid £480 for a Robbins Haartz stayfast cloth in black with a glass vision panel instead of the plastic. It arrives next Monday so will post when I've managed to fit it.
The front bumper isn't original then? It does look good though I agree.
Wheels not original then? That's a shame, I would have gone for new ones if I had known but it's in the workshop today, I get tired of shopping around to be honest. It's a local company who have a great reputation and their work looks great. I've gone for a smoked dark silver colour, can't remember the correct name of the colour, sorry. Front wheels 13" and rear wheels 14", not sure of tyre width to be honest, will post later but it has winter tyres on because it used to live in Sweden with a previous owner. I wasn't over keen on the matching wheel and car colour, I may get the wing mirrors sprayed the same colour.

Ditto - I was actually going to suggest silver or gray, so your choice will be perfect!

Your rear wheel looks too small.
Are they 13 inch front, 14 in rears? As per standard sizes?

If they are then could be incorrect tyre size.
You'll notice that in the gearing.

Tyre sizes should be Front 155/65 R13 and Rear 165/60 R14

Makes the Beat a bit more agressive :)

Hope you can post some pictures of the new roof, in package and when you put it on your Beat :)

It really looks like you have the 13's on the rear and the 14's on the front! I can see from the pix that the 13-inchers are 165/65R13 and the 14's are 155/65R14, so that is why it may have looked wrong with the wheels in the right place. Just get the correct sizes as Steve said and it will look much better. Anyhow the color is great!

i THINK looking at the pics of the tyres... that you may have the fronts on the back and the backs on the front? :p
the tyre with R13 on it looks like its in the rear wheel arch?
wheels look fantastic btw - nice work!

Will check the wheels when next I see the car, garaged remotely.
What size centre caps and where best to source them please?
Also some cill rot on drivers side, will get it repaired but ideas / source for any tasteful side skirts also?

As they are not genuine honda wheels then you may have to measure the centre hole size and look on eBay for some suitable centre caps. You may be able to find some enkei one or perhaps some genuine honda ones may fit, just check the size.

You could try a local alloy wheel supplier who may be able to match some up.

Your rust on that area of the sill is quite common, it will be full of damp mud behind that panel.
