Air Conditioning R134a Compatability.

Local Aircon specialists tell me R12 is no longer available. There is a lot of conflicting info as to what needs to be done to convert to R134a. There are also people selling unspecified substances which they claim can be added to any system to top it up. Has any one tried and what happened?

I had my sys changed to R134a in 2009 with no negative issues. I believe one or more minor items had to be changed. Suggest check on-line research. Matter of fact, just last week i had the sys serviced due to engine removal/re-installation.
