View Full Version : Beat Tuning
Our friend Akira in Japan has just "tuned" his Beat in a very simple way.
He's reduced the weight by 20Kg by removing the Air-con and the spare wheel!
I thought it got pretty hot in Japan, but maybe he's that much of a purist. Just think how much more weight could be saved by replacing the bonnet and bootlid with fibre or similar.
Has anyone tried that?

I haven't had the spare in since I bought mine, can of tire weld does the trick in emergencies anyway. I don't know about loosing the AC, it gets just as hot as anywhere else!! I have seen a carbon fibre bonnet at the junkers here for $100, 13kg-->4.5kg, but not willing to sacrifice the originality of the car for it. The air funnel intakes I have found work the best, I travel to work everyday with at least 40 other Beats, drag 'em off every day, love those intakes, you really all should try them!

One set from Kamimura is on my HP, price also, the others that I have fitted are from Yahoo! Auction, so check em out there, I think they usually go for about 7000 yen a set, there are three lengths short med and longs, I got the longs......
