Hi guys,

My wifes little beat had an attempted thieft 2 days ago. We were lucky as only the roof was cut, (which can be replaced) but the idiots then turned the steering wheel until it had full lock on and then kept turning, ending up sheering the steering rod/column with the effect that the steering wheel now sits on the passanger seat quite nicley.

Has anybody had this happen to them, if so what parts am i likley to need and would 2nd hand parts be ok for it. It is with a mechanic who does alot of classic cars, but he has asked me to see if anyone on the forum may give him a heads up.

Thanks for any help in advance.

The inner column is replaceable separately and should think you might need a new steering lock.
I'm not in the office today (Away for the weekend) so can't check parts availability for you till tues.

there's a couple of full cars being broken at the moment - the silver one on ebay and Professor on here is also breaking one - might be worth dropping them a line, even if its just to get you moving again until stuff comes from japan?
