Hey, does anyone here have any experience with replacement/aftermarket ECUs on their Beat? Specifically Megasquirt systems (although I imagine the most common systems would be Hondata and the like).
Specifically I want to replace the current ECU and upgrade the fuelling in preparation for fitting a supercharger sometime down the line and I don't want to have to worry about what it's possible to mess around with in the current ECU and it will give me more options to play with if I do go ahead with it. I can't imagine I'd see any immediate power gains with the new ECU on stock cams (but who knows, the Beat may be slightly de-tuned to meet the power regs) but at ~£300 for a Megasquirt unit, it seems like it's worth it.
Aside from managing the EFI, does anyone know what other functions the Beat ECU deals with? Being an early 90's car I can't imagine it needs to do much else.
