Glass Rear Window...

I know the S2000 had a plastic rear window for the first 2 years, (2000-2001) and then got a glass rear window in 2002+

Is there any aftermarket company that makes a top with a glass rear window for the beat? My plastic one always get scratch/fogged real quick and its getting expensive to fix it every 2 years to keep it nice a clear.

That would sure be nice, but I'd need a more convenient system that that damn zipper when I fold the top. How does it work on the S2000?

I had my rear window modified. Installed snaps along the rear segment where the holes were for the attch points inside the trunk and added velcro along the sides. To lower the top I; unsnap the rear of the window; unzip the front of the window; roll up the window in a fabric sleeve and insert under the driver's seat. Lastly, I install the tonneau.

The S2000's window in glass is much smaller (from what I recall) than the plastic window model.

I've been folding mine with the window zipped up since day one...I only thought the zipper was to get access to the engine compartment...:o

Mine's got a fold right down the center of the window and it works fine when I stow the top...call me lazy :)

I've got a few Honda Beat magazines at home. I'll have to take a look and see if I can find one with a glass rear window. Those guys in japan do crazy things with their beats!

Whose car is that? Looks good, maybe would be cutting rear visibility a tad though.

I never unzip either - just put a stuffed sock in the fold so it doesn't make a crease. Works fine, but that plastic isn't very clear even after I polish it. And it seems to attract dirt and dust more than the rest of the car! Definitely going to make the glass option my next project!

I saw it on a Japanese ebay. There is a company that produces them and yes they do cut visibility, but well worth it I'd have thought. Sorry I don't have the link.

Had an S2000 with a plastic window and had it replaced when it became cloudy. The glass one on the Beat looks OK but I suspect it needs unzipping every time it's lowered. Never unzip my Beat's rear window but I have a piece of pipe insulation (polystyrene) which I got from a DIY shed for next to nothing and I place it in the centre of the window when I lower the roof where it folds and it stops it creasing. I just swap it to the rear shelf when the roof is up. I have to remember it's there when I raise it as it pops away. I agree with steveinjapan that the plastic does attract the dust badly. I suspect it's the static electricity it collects. Fortunately it's not that big and can be easily (carefully!!!) cleaned.

Just looked again at the glass window jpg and I reckon that an after market roofer could offer just the rear part complete with the glass window and it could be zipped in. Would be costly for any of us to locate suitable glass to use and fashion though. Perhaps there is a soft top vehicle out there which currently has a glass screen which could be adapted (like an MX-5, even an S2). I guess they would be heated ones though which will make them more costly.

Spotted this yesterday while looking to source a new roof for mine (I cant cope with the drips any longer ) they seem to offer a glass rear window as an option.

Well I went with the glass option from cabrioworld and it's the same as the one posted by Barny http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/4870/glassscreen.jpg. Rear visability is a lot bettter, especially in bad weather, and you don't even notice the reduced size when looking through the rear view mirror. The only downside is that you definately need to 'unzip' before dropping the roof.
The hood itself was a perfect fit, although the holes weren't pre-punched and needed drilling. No pics yet I'm afraid, but I'm no longer getting dripped on :D
