clutch problem

Over the past few weeks i have noticed that when i change gear the revs will climb high but the car wont be pulling
to the same degree , it has got progressively worse , and today it would hardly pull in any gear after i had been driving
it for a while , it never happens at start up and there are no other symptoms , no burning clutch smell etc , im in no
way mechanically minded and am presuming its the clutch , any thoughts and advice greatly ap appreciated .

Thats does sound like your clutch is slipping.

Genuine Honda Parts wise your looking at.

Pressure plate - 22300-P36-010 £153.29
Friction plate - 22200-P36-020 £94.72
Release bearing - 22810-P37-013 £51.82

There is no stock in Europe for any of those parts, so they would have to come from Japan.

Not sure if the likes of Blueprint/ADL do pattern parts for Beat.

There is a Beat being broken on eBay , seller has offered the clutch for £60 plus delivery , he doesn't know the cars history but drove it for a while , says the clutch was in good shape , height biting point etc , am I throwing my money away or is it worth a chance .

I presume you would be paying some one to fit it?

I wouldn't bother with a second hand clutch that you only have someone's word for its history.

I would be paying for fitting , mush have to bend over for Mr Honda .

FRT for changing clutch is 4.9 hrs and I should think a Honda dealer is going to at least £80 to £90 an hour. So it's gonna be £400+ mark for Labour. I'd be finding a good local garage to carry out a clutch change rather than a franchised dealer if your not going to be doing it your self.

I have a mate who runs his own garage to do the work For a mate rate , it's the parts that are going to cost , still if I get another 20 years out of a new clutch it will be money well spent .

I fitted a new clutch in mine when I first got it in 2004 and used a genuine Homda kit but within 5000 miles the friction plate was rattling terribly at 3000revs, so I took it out last year and had the friction plate rebuilt with stronger springs and new friction linings by a clutch specialist in Morley Leeds. so far it has done about 8000 mls since then and all is still quiet and was quarter the price of the Honda one!
