Dinky as in small, no offence but a Beat is small, as a long time owner I'm proud to see the Beat still recognised as a great car in such exaulted company. :)

din·ky ( P ) Pronunciation Key (dngk)
adj. Informal din·ki·er, din·ki·est
Of small size or consequence; insignificant.
Of poor quality; shabby.

not really a compliment in my opinion, even if it is with such exhaulted company!

I know which one I prefer.

Oxford Dictionary of Current English:

dinky: neat and attractive, small, dainty.

See ... I don't think Dinky Toys had shabby and insignificant in mind when they first started making model vehicles. Trust the yanks to screw up the "common" language!
