Chassis Number

Hello eveyone. Is it possible to determine the actual year of manufacture from a chassis number? Mine is PP1-1013138. Date of first registration is 1992 but it would be interesting to know if the car was brought in new or "preloved".

Speaking from memory of a website showing Beat sales on a month by month basis which I found a good few years ago. Around 22000 (approx 2/3rds of total production) were sold in 1991 in the months immediately after launch. Assuming chassis numbers start at PP1-1000001 yours would have been built in 1991. There were however a few dealers importing new Beats to the UK, in some cases via the Channel Islands so it could have come via that route which would account for the delay.

Via my colleages in Japan they have managed to get information from Suzuka factory regarding the production date of your Beat.

1.Manufactured date: 22/07/1991
2.Pass date of final inspection: 24/07/1991
