misfire under 2k, fine afterwards
long story short....
swapped ECU's, checked various valves pipes etc
problem? bad contact in distributor, flux oozing out.

Could you, please, expand on your report so that it might be more useful to other owners: Where in the distributor was the bad contact, was it the distributor cap, a HT lead, the 12V supply, or what?

Several Beat I have seen, it has been the central contact bush in the distributor cap that has failed. (little or no force provided by the spring, causing burning of the contact point)
