Hey guys and gals

how much would a headgasket cost to sort out on the beat? basic headgasket, headbolts and relevant seals that are needed?

also oil filter, spark plugs, brake discs, pads how much do they cost?

Lets put it this way there is a certain red one which does need work but is pretty cheap, also does anyone have centre consol plastics and possibly a spare hood(the see through bit).

The cost for the head gasket really depends where you get it done. I suspect that a garage that hasn't worked on a Beat before will adjust their quote up in the assumption that the repair will be a difficult one. An head gasket on a Beat wouldn't be a big job at all. 7 hours should be enough to do it. The parts you would need would be the head gasket, inlet gasket, cambelt, idler, tensioner, water pump (not necessary but recommended) and you may as well do the valve stem oil seals whilst the head is off. I have a copy of a parts invoice you can have with many of the part numbers and prices that you require. I'd rather email it to you as it has my address etc on it and I can't edit it as it's a pdf file.

Discs and pads shouldn't be an issue with supply or price as I am sure they are shared with old Rover 400's. I keep meaning to double check this as I can get Rovers parts with quite a considerable discount.

thanks for the replies everyone :D The headbolts I thought you always had to change them when doing the HG?

Steve with the cambelt is that just for the belt itself? I think I will want to do the idler, tensioner and water pump aswell just to be on the safe side

No real need to replace head bolts, they are not stretch bolts, actually they are not that tight any way.

They are 90008-PZ1-003 @ £7.11 each so x 8 £56.88 if you really want.

Idler 14520-PZ1-003 @ £61.54
Tensioner 14510-PZ1-003 @ £56.10
Water Pump 19200-P36-000 @ £110.14

If this is the one that was on ebay advertised as neading some tlc, I'd stay well clear. Looks in a right state tbh. Beardo's would get my cash.
