CD format, Europe vs. NA...

I live in Canada, and want to purchase a CD changer for my Beat, and its from the UK. Does anyone know is a different format for audio CD's in Europe vs. North America? I know with Video there is PAL and NTSC that makes DVD's incompatible in either country, but with CD's, I think it is universal...? Can anyone verify this?
