View Full Version : Shift knob swap...

My shift knob is very worn, and I want to replace it with a new one. There are plenty of aftermarket shift knobs available, but I'm not to sure which ones specifically will fit my Beat.
I thought all cars from Japan had the same thread size, or perhaps that it was universal...to test I took the knob off my Toyota Yaris today, and it is to big; it just slides over the threads. Not to sure if any aftermarket Honda knob will work (aka civic or such), or if the Beat has a odd size thread/diameter that makes it hard to find a knob for?
Please chime in if you have any knowledge of this,
Thanks,
-Mark

The one I have doesn't use the thread at all, it uses grub screws though it is prone to turning around, but I got used to it pretty quick.

Just a simple universal one, all the universal ones I've seen here are the same.

All genuine Honda gear knobs have the same size screw thread, I used to have an Accord Type R Alloy gear knob on mine. Looked really good.

I will dig out a picture, if i can get the uploader to work.

Most aftermarket knobs are rubbish they just use differant size spacers to take up the size of the shaft and then a grub screw to retain the knob. So they normally come loose and turn around.

Good to know. Its funny that Toyota's (assuming all the models are all the same) have a different size than the Honda's. I guess that would be to easy if they were all the same size!;)
