View Full Version : Actual Engine Rev-limit...

I've yet to have a 100% answer on this one.
The red-line shown on the tach is about 8500rpm, so this is where I assume the rev-limiter will kick in, though others say it will go up past 9000, near 9100rpm or so. Other unlucky people have it kick in at 7200rpm for no know reason.
Please fill me in!
Thanks,

The rev limit is on engine revs for the first four gears. The limit in 5th gear is on top speed. I think it's about 140km/h, approx 86ish mph and is there because of Japanese law.
I've had a few Jap import bikes and had a 2.2 Vtec Prelude and they all topped out at approximately the same speed.

As for exact revs, go drive and find out :D

Maximum power is @ 8100 rpm and Max torque is @ 7000 rpm. So no need really to go past those.

Also would seem that a lot of the rev counters are not actually that accurate.

As Mylee says there is a speed limiter 140 kph, which you can hit in 5th gear @ 7500rpm. But you dont really want to go any faster than that really. The front of the car is getting pretty light at that speed.

Great, thanks guys! I don't rev past 8100 really, but I've just heard people say it will go till 9000, and curious where the actual limiter will kick in.
Thanks all!
