Hi Beat fans, my red Beat was due a cambelt change so i bit the bullet and undertook the job myself(with a little help from this forum). Thanks em for those images of your engine out of the car and to all those others who posted the pros and cons of the cambelt changes as they were useful.
Including putting the car on rollers the belt change took about 7 hours from start to finish.I reckon the next belt change which is due on my silver one i could get it down to 6 hours total.Anyone want a belt change for a small fee hee hee:)

Do you have to drain the fluids before you tip them up?

No fluids had to be drained from the car.The only fluid that started to trickle out due to gravity was a small amount of washer screen fluid from the pipes under bonnet.

But why their are leakink? At our Beaty it is only the right one who`s leaking.
Of course, car is in normal position:)

I mean as soon as you tip them up they aren't sealed, so they leak.

Is this the easiest way/best way/fastest way to change the timing belt and such. Can the alternator and waterpump be easily changed like this as well?

Hmmmm, not sure on any of these point's. All I know is my mechanoc didn't have any trouble using a 'conventional' method of a high lift ramp!

When I do mine it will be without a ramp of any kind. Axel stands and a trolley jack is all I need. Got the engine out of my breaker that way so the belt should be easy.

Good point. My mechanic has a good high lift. At least it can be done without dropping the motor!
