Error 6 CD error message. Could not read data from disc because it is upside-down.

This message comes up whichever way you insert the disc.

try this:

might take a bit of searching for our model but seems all codes are same regardless

or google this 'clarion cd changer fault codes'

This message comes up whichever way you insert the disc.

If you use a (no offence intended) but a cheap brand of CD's if it's a copied CD then sometimes the label side is too see through for the reader to read it right.

Try another CD, failing that a lens cleaner disc

No, the CD's are pre recorded originals. I have also tried a lens cleaner in every slot in the cartridge, still no success.

You can replace the CD changer with a Clarion 636, as long as it has the right number of pins (which I think is 13, but if you unplug yours and count them to be sure)...

Mine looks like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250278254572

But it's not clear if it's a 636, so I'd find out how many pins you have and ask the seller if it has the same number.
