Matt, If I don't call you tomorrow evening, call me. It's a shame to lose the toy because Erik was a "very unprofessional businessman". On the otherhand, at least you found a solution for the $$ investment. Query re a tax write-off.

Side note: last winter I attempted to purchase a Smart Roadster. A few days ago, after Mercedes anounced that next year the 42 (or24?) will be imported, I contacted the USA Smart Rep. There are no plans to petition the DOT and EPA for approval of the Roadster, only the 42. AND, California is one of the 7 states NOT approving the 42. Amazing. Detroit money continues to support the big 3 ton wastefull pieces of crap. For all the non US listeners, our junkyards are full of the 'high-center-of-gravity' crap cause they can not turn. But they can roll.

re Matt selling his red Beat: Spoke with him earlier. He has experienced similar frustration with respect to the Beat Seller who promised the moon - until money changed hands - but didn't deliver the papers necessary to road the car. Stroke of luck, he attended a microcar show last Saturday with a 'for sale' sign in the window. A museum guy from Tennesse said "How much"? Matt (not wishing to lose the opportunity) said "$10k". Done deal. He'll likely key an eye for another Beat or Capo - complete with papers- in Canada.

As a bonus, his daily driver Red Beat won 3rd place at the carshow.

Yes, the Beat did sell, but at least I'll be able to visit her! :)

For the time being I'm just going to drive my Civic. I'm building an airplane, and that's going to need to be my focus for a while. I may try to pick up another Beat in the future.

the position the beat is in with all those tropical trees in the background make it look like a shot from a movie seen. Well done on the purchase, very nice car!!
