Hi All
After selling my 1st beat a couple of years ago.Ive now gone a got a version Z or so i think? its reg is K435 SUY think it could be a member on here called Tiny Tims. Any one confirm its a gen Z version????Has real nice red and green leather trim.

Yes its not bad ,but has never been washed ,lots of elbow grease needed:D
spec has been changed lower miles engine and gearbox has been fitted...Full Mines ECU Fubisu exhaust and manifold.
Need to sort out speedo goes of clock on Kph

Yes i think an orignal has been if you look down back of engine drive shafts are lifted and go through a thick plate sized round thingy with a plug to put in the diff oil in.Am i right ?a photowould be nice

You cant tell by looking at the gear box as the lsd is housed in side it. Jack up the car spin the wheel with the car in gear and see which way the other wheel spins..

It was a ebay sale but sold as version Z looks like a lot of Emails to Ebay for miss sold item:( :( :(

Ah no.. thats terrible. Looks like someone has kept the LSD for themselves.. they cost over 1k to replace :explode:

Yes iam well peeeeed,in the process of compensation trying to talk to the guy.he still says he never new a Version Z had a LSD:suicide:

I'm just trying to work out if the LSD could have broken.
Would it act as a normal diff it it seized or broke a cog? I wonder if there has to be an amount of torque through it to make it 'work'
Anyone know?
Maybe its still there and we are on a witch hunt (on halloween) for nothing?

He told me had replaced the engine and gearbox with a lower mileage one ,but to my knowledge and what ive seen the wheels should spin the same way if LSD fitted.

That sucks. Think i'd be annoyed too. Just as a general wondering aloud, and a topic of discussion, does the Beat actually need an LSD? Yours has been advertised with one, and sold without, which is plain wrong. Does the LSD in the Version Z actually make a difference to it's already brilliant handling? Anyone driven a Z and a standard car back to back? I just can't imagine a 750kg car with 64bhp would need it. My ATR has 210bhp and makes good use of its LSD, but it has more than three times the power and is nearly twice the weight of my Beat. I guess it's a case of giving us a high-spec edition with all the kit they could fit in it. Anyone know what makes Versions C and F different?

Hi there,
I have installed an aftermarket Cusco one in mine and it really makes a difference, I wouldn’t be without it now.. Only draw back is that, with most aftermarket LSD`s you can hear the diff when parking, but its a small sacrifice for better handling.

Ive just been in touch with the Garage that removed the Z box ,they will remove from other Beat and put back in mine.Cost £550+good old VAT
Dont no much about Labour charges is this a good deal???

Sounds good to me. Splitting a gearbox is never gonna be cheap. Quite intrigued about Midships Cusco LSD now though. Wonder what difference it makes.....

I've seen that car a few years back and it never had an LSD so you might be waisting you time and a lot of money.

I don't think the last owner knew that there was anything missing. When I saw the car a few years back in Wales, it was jacked up so I was spinning wheels to see and it didn't have an LSD then either.
I really don't think this was a scam or anything as sinister as is being suggested.
All around its a really clean car without any faults that I know of so just drive it and enjoy it!!!

I do remember askin about the LSD and was told that it didnt have a noticable effect.. maybe because it wasnt there? i dont know... so agreed maybe not sinister at all.
Have a look at other box before switching.. its fairly easy to check for an LSD..

I think you will find that this car is an early version Z, it really only has cosmetic changes to a normal version, e.g special colour/ black dials, alloy wheels. its a 100 chassis rather than a 110 chassis which is the later Version Z with the other changes e.g. LSD and ABS.
it can be confirmed with the chassis number. PP1-100 or PP1-110.

Special colours.
Version C = Blue
Version F = Metallic Green
Both had standard alloy wheels (version C = white, version F = silver)
Limited production numbers.

It is in metalic green rather than the soild green
Has no abs ive been told was a option on the Z model , no lsd.
Has Black dials and alloys
So is it version F?????

I was under the impression that all Dark mat green Zs (like british racing green) were PP1-110? granted the ABS (and LSD which i was not aware of) may have been options? What changes were made to the mechanics of the standard car to justify a chassis number change?
maybe Oz can clarify? :)

Quite a few mechanical changes. Some easy to spot, some not. I did notice that the Aircon system on the 110 is R134a (later type gas). Additions of ABS and LSD (not sure if standard or option).
Some other parts where changed, but part numbers for earlier cars supersceed to later number as well now.
Version F only available in the one colour turquoise/green metallic
Version Z available in Dark green metalic (sort of BRG) or Silver.

Your confusing how the chassis number is listed.
your chassis number is a 100 series.
All beats are coded PP1
the next part (yours being 103) denotes 100 series.
It would seem that 100 series Version Z start at chassis number PP1-1031412 onwards
a 110 series chassis would be for example PP1-1101059
PP1-1101059 BEAT 2 1995 KJ BEAT VERSION Z 5MT A
where as your car PP1-1031733 comes up as
PP1-1031733 BEAT 2 1991 KJ 5MT EVER GLADE GREEN M (G80M) A
with the option to choose version Z when looking up changed parts.

You seem to know your stuff ,Would Honda Uk be able to find out from chassis number alone if this is a version Z out of factory or if Z was chosen as option ??from new...
The only this it has is the alloys and black dials

I really wouldn't worry about the lack of LSD. Unless you plan to somehow mod it beyond 100bhp, of course.
I think it is more a pure performance rather than handling part, in that it ensures that power goes to the heavily loaded outside tyre rather than the already spinning inside one, improving corner exit acceleration. But of course this means that with the LSD, when pushing the car, abrupt breakaway of the rear will occur relatively simultaneously for both tyres, whereas the standard open diff will give you a bit of warning by losing grip on the inside tyre significantly before the outside starts to struggle. So in that regard, the handling could be easier to 'read' with the standard diff.

Just a bit peed in the fact that it should of been a Version Z with the LSD!
Turns out to be std one with a few mods.
Inc Mines ecu 3 branch maniforld and twin exhaust de cated.
Full red and green leather trim.
All for £2500
Average price i think
Just put 12 mot on it needed new front & rear discs and pads extra £320
So i think il keep her!!:D

I think if you got the manifold, exhaust and ecu inc then its well worth what you bought it for after market exhaust manifolds cost a bomob

Sorry I have not been to the board for a while to busy breaking up a Beat!!!
I imported this beat as a clean original 1993 version Z which has various changes including a re worked centre of gravity all other options were options such as LSD, ABS and SRS. The only standard items on early version Z cars were up dates including above mentioned and new ECU map. Also you got alloy wheels, 40W audio and rear spoiler as standard items, plus that nice green paint work !!!!
The car was bourght for 400,000 yen and had a Silver Hard top whic cost about a further 200,000 yen. I added 120W audio and front fog lamps and loved the car to bits and do not for get the Mugen exhaust pipe !!!

Thanks for the compliment there, but on this one Midship would be the expert, since he got the LSD installed recently, I'm still waiting for the revies myself, and my Beat 10 months to go....
