Hi all!
My wife has seen a Beat and fallen in love with the idea of owning one…but!
Can you get a Beat with an automatic gearbox?
Thanks

That's going to upset her! No excuse though! She can use a stick shift, she's just gotten lazy with her CVT HR-V.
And a Dublin man! I'm from Stillorgan!

An automatic Beat?
Just the thought of it makes me shudder.

Too true!
My smart is an automatic, but when I put my foot to the floor it goes like stink, and knows not to change up until it's hit the redline.
Very clever little car, too clever for it's own good sometimes hee hee.

Traditional automatics are slow, more expensive to run, more environmentally damaging and just plain boring to drive.
These new automated manuals, like in the Smart, are not as quick and not as smooth as a real person changing gear.
The only thing that might make me switch is that twin-clutch DSG gearbox by Audi & VW. That is much faster and smoother than a person. Still, I'd miss the involvement in the driving. And that's surely what the Beat is all about. And the Beat's gearchange is so short-throw and precise, I abhor the thought of getting rid of it.

I dunno, it's been so long since I last drove mine I've forgotten. I've missed all the sunshine and everything :(
