how do you get the wiper arms off from the spline?

the plastic domed cover levers off to reveal a nut, once removed it may take a little grunt, but they simply pull straight up and off, take not of the wiper blade resting position is all, as they have a tendancy to go off the windshield if you position them wrongly when replacing them....
