Hey Oz!

Glad you're getting Beat again. Sorry I couldn't hook up with you when I was there in September, but it was only 5 days and Shizuoka is a distance from where you are.

Where in Oz are you going back to?

ozsamurai

Number 176, the line hadn't even warmed up yet! 1991 yes, the laws for import to Australia are you have to drive the car (registered in your name) for a year here for it to be eligable for import OR the car has to be over 15yrs old, was waiting for the age thing to work in my favor, then found the neatest one on the block with as many 'options' as possible, now begins the fun stuff, with any luck it won't be recognizable to its previous owner in under a month as I'm on a time limit!!

Today, back screen changed, took pics for a DIY for you all, tommorrow the wheels arrive.

How do you find out what number beats are?

ozsamurai
05-04-2006, 12:33 AM
The VIN (Vehicle identifictaion Number) is under your hood, for all first series models it will start with 100. so 10000176, numer 176 off the line! Beat maniacs over here try of course to get as low a number as possible, the guy who runs the Meet The Beat hunted for 10yrs to finally get number 100, you have to be sort of mad though to go that far! Well at least he is!

Ooh, I like the wheels Oz,

In a way, I'm glad I don't live over there, I'd be more broke than I am now with all the bits available for the car...lol

Sounds like it will be another good one once it's finished (are they ever done???)

Ady.

the bumper sets I am putting together for you guys in the UK, shaping up to be close to 1000GBP for the full set, front, rear, side skirts and rear trunk spoiler. Just trying to find a reliable UK domestic handler.

As to Beats in Japan they run the gammet of course as any used cars do but personally would nor touch anything under 500,000 or you'd end up paying for it in other ways

That's very tasty Oz. I like the wheels, what size are they?

Did you think about running the lower black detail through the bottom of the doors?

Cheers

I just noticed when you posted the pic. Wonder why the thread reminder just arrived in my in-box (twice). I think it must have been to Mars and back!

Still like the wheels.

The wheels are by a mob called TMW, they are 15' 6J with 40 offset, running the standard 165/50/15 on the front with 5mm spacers and to bring back the forward slant angle of the car 185/55/15 on the rear. I like the idea of continuation of the black will keep it in the back of the mind. The steps were done like that as an interim, till the full paint job when it arrives in Oz 2yrs later (sob!) I am also entertaining the idea of GT stripes..but....not sold on it yet.

Cheers
