View Full Version : Anyone want to be in a magazine???

Wh1teLeopard
28-11-2005, 02:17 PM
You may remember some time ago that we were invited to star on the TV for the Men and Motors program.

That was Sammy from the Honda Revolutions club who invited us. Now Sammy has asked me to help her create an article for their club magazine. I've already written the article and had it checked over etc but what we need now are pictures.

Wouldn't it be a great advert for the club if we could get a selection of Beat's together for a photoshoot?

If anyone is interested please let me know.

Is everyone interested available next weekend, 5th December?

And would everyone be able to get to Jn 10 of the M42?

It would only take about an hour so if we could get there for 9am it gives everyone the rest of the day to do what they need to...

Sorry it's such short notice, I might be able to wait until the weekend after (the 12th) if no-one can make the 5th, but the 5th would be perfect.

And everyone is welcome back to mine for a cup of tea and a warm... provided you don't mind little dogs hee hee ;)

Sorry Jurek, want to stay away from Birmingham on the second saturday of december, we will probably loose people in the traffic. I have a few places in mind in Tamworth which should be quiet.

Don't think the people who own the snow dome would aggree to letting some cars in i'm affraid.

So here's the details people:

10th december
Jn 10 of the M42, Tamworth Services.
Meet at 9am

Don't be late ;)

I will think about it, depending on the weather.

But I would be more convinced to make the journey if someone could suggest a more photogenic scene than a service station car park...

Bruce

Wh1teLeopard
02-12-2005, 03:04 PM
I wasn't suggesting the service station car park

Right people we're going to Kingsbury Water Park, lots of grass, trees, birdies, lakes, & a playground to keep jurek busy playing on the swings! ;)

It costs £2.50 to get in and I'll save my pennies to pay for entry for you all... but don't think i'll have enough to buy you a cup of tea afterwards... so save your spare change. ;)

I've checked they are open next week, both the park and the tea rooms (I don't think we'd have all fitted in my little house), so should be good as everything we need is there!

Hope to see you all on saturday. PM me for my mobile number if you're worried you'll get lost!

PS. We're still meeting at the services then we'll all convoy to the park together

Yep, it was an excellent day Emm, Many thanks for organising it and also to those that turned up to make it worth doing...
(6 must be a record for just a get together...)

I'll PM you my address later once I've had something to eat.

Ady.

Oh yeah, I managed to average 41.8 MPG today even with some rather spirited driving on the way up trying to gain back some time lost due to the roadworks diversion... (Sorry to keep you all waiting this morning :o )

Trip should have been 300 miles ish, I ended up doing almost 375... Still the diversion route on the way home was a bit easier.

I shsll be giving fule echonomy lessons soon

How do you all get more than 160Km to a full tank??

Prise to the best answer :bounce: :bounce:

adrianp
11-12-2005, 07:03 AM
160Km...

That means your not getting much more than low 20's to the gallon... (depending on how much you put in when you fill up...)

What fuel do you use???

Optimax, BP Ultimate, supermarket cheap stuff?????

Ady.

jurek
11-12-2005, 08:13 AM
Hi Ady
I usually use suprmarket unleaded.
at my mpg cant afford anything better

I did try super but did not feel any difference.

When the wife has use the car she does not get any miore mpg..........I think..

tinytim
11-12-2005, 12:05 PM
jurek,
Can I be so bold as to say you need to take a serious look at your fuel consumption. If you're only getting that distance to a tank either; your tank only holds half as much as it should, you are throwing far too much fuel into the cylinder or, you have a fuel leak:(

If you fill up with 20 liters or so, I really can't see your figures being right, your exhaust would be a cloud of black smoke and no chance of passing an MOT! Has someone changed the odometer to read miles perhaps, that would be closer, but you should be getting twice as far as you currently say.

I think the only way you will be able to loose that much fuel and not know is for there to be a leak or a thief.

11-12-2005, 03:55 PM
Yes... a great day out. Wonderful to meet everyone in person.

Many thanks to Em for setting it all up and to John B for photographic skills. Also Jurek for advanced driving skills demonstration and advice on tyre care and petrol economy!

I still can't believe that car of yours is bog standard, Jurek!

Glad the sun came out and provided an excuse to drive home topless (well most of the way, anyway).

Pleased also to hear that everyone got home safely and without incident.

Can we all find another opportunity to meet up again soon?

Tiny tim the speedo is in Km I am sure. she runs fine revs over 7k
No smell of petrol as every one saw on saturday, no leak

I have no idea whats wrong.

She had new belts fitted and new distributor befor I had her at a dealer in Manchester.

I would love to improve the economy.
There in no chip replacement as the ecu has been out to use as a pattern the Wh1teLeopard.
She is restricted to 140km/ph

some one must know.

Hi W-L
why did you wipe the plates?
people could point and say ......thats one of them !!!!

who is that cool guy in the third photo????

is it ....it is ..??? wow !!!:

Wh1teLeopard
21-12-2005, 02:38 PM
I wipe the plates as standard practice, as it has been proven that you can make up a company to imply you are a clamper and for just £2.50 ask the DVLA for the address of the owner of the registration mark... thus knowning where the car is kept...

so rather than risk having my friends cars stolen or whereabouts known I just scrub the plates.

THE MAGAZINE ARRIVED TODAY :D

ALL of the photos can be found here:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v661/Wh1teLeopard/HondaMag

If anybody would like a copy of any photos full size then please get in touch. If you would like to buy the magazine you can either join the Honda Revolutions club and get one free as part of your membership. OR wait until the summer issue is out then purchase it on the HondaRevolutions website for a couple of £££'s (It won't be avialable to non members until then I'm affraid)

I recommend joining the club anyway as they have lots of shows and track days that we could attend. As we saw at Gaydon they are more than happy to let us park together.
