I'm in a middle of a rebuild and I'm not sure if I should get oversized pistons and rings, the engineering company I'm dealing need to know the size of the pistons.

I can't see why the won't measure the ones that came out of the block.

Anyway I would like to go to my friendly honda man in the morning for the final batch so if anybody has a clue what the size it is, then that be great.

Thanks

if i remember right the piston size is 66mm STD, honda should have a 0.25 overbore piston and ring if needed.

Do you think that its exactly 66mm?

Honda do two sizes of oversize pistons (0.25) and (0.50)

Bore size is 66.00 - 66.02 with a service limit of 66.07 (If my interpretation of japanese is correct)

May have more info in my Engine manual, (which is at work at the mo, will look tomorrow)

After close inspection I noticed that I cracked all three of my pistons. Hence the no compression issue. How could that happen? I've heard of one but never all three!

Steve: Do you know if the honda today pistons are the same part number as the beat?

I got my new pistons today, but before I start I thought I might ask.

Do I need a hydraulic press to put the pin back in the conrod?

Thanks

The piston has an intake side and an exhaust one. There two indents on top and two on the bottom.

Does anybody which way around should they be?

Or maybe someone has a photo of the top of the block with the pistons in it. There is also a marking "IN" on it and an arrow.

I have the engine assembled but I'm a little affraid to turn her over just incase its wrong.

Thanks for any help

the IN will means the intake side.

and the arrow MUST face to the cambelt. same as the conrod, on the side of the conrod there should be a making, i know the Integra Type R has 'R' stamped on the, dont know what beat has. but that face MUST face the cambelt as well.

hope this answer your question

Yes thanks that answers it. I'm not sure what way I did it now so I'll go to the garage in the morning and fingers crossed .

Thanks for the quick response

Thanks for the pic too, did you sell that engine in the end? I saw it was withdrawn from the auction.

I'm still interested for another project!
