what's "MOT"?

I have seen a phrase like "6 month MOT" in several Beat for sale postings. Forgive my Canadian ignorance, but what does that mean?

My guess is MOT is Ministry of Transportation.. Is it some kind of annual inspection?

Yup!

Any car over the age of 3 years has to be annually inspected.
Its not too intense a scrutiny though, mainly a check of roadworthyness and emmissions.
