View Full Version : Type R
I so enjoy driving Chris' Beat, with it's go-kart handling and buzzing engine (especially top down) that I've just ordered ... a Civic Type R!
Not exactly the same, I know, but what a motor. I wish we could "Type R" the Beat too. Wasn't someone thinking of installing a Honda Fireblade engine?
I'll still miss the Merc when it goes - anyone fancy an SEC500 5-litre Coupe? Average 5k miles p.a. (for the last 20 years), excellent condition (cosmetic refurbishment completed where needed), will go for ever.

Thats a bit more like it,
It will even have the right badge on it........ :p
The Merc was nice but did look a bit out of place at a Honda meeting...
It should be a bit more fun than the Merc also.
See you tomorrow
Adrian.

The Prodigal returns ... at considerable speed!!
Hi John,
Can't wait 'til the next Beat meet to have a close look at your Civic Type R.
I'm saving up for one.
I should have it in approximately 5 years! :(
It was Andy & me you were talking to about the 'Blade engine.
I'd love to do it but I just can't afford to.
It'd see off your Type R though :D

well, that makes 2 of us then!
got my test drive next saturday, should get Type r in march. Might get the anniversary edition, as it is cheaper if you want aircon!
Wish they did it in blue though!

Well, i test drove a lovely black Type R today (thanks, stuart graham honda!)
Where do i sign??
I couldn't believe how well rounded the car was, its was an excellent 'in town' car, and a devil when pushed!
My old civic vti was a bit hard work at low speeds, but honda have spread the torque better on the CTR.
I'm a bit worried that its toooo easy to do 80 odd without even noticing! Not good for my licence!
Its ceartainly made my shopping list for early next year, just got to pick the colour now!

:p
Agreed - speed rushes on all to quickly (if that's not a conundrum!)
I got a Road Angel last week and tried it today on a motorway run (in the Merc). Actually no cameras noted but it did warn of two blackspots, with which I agree. It seems like it could be a good system.
I get the car Tuesday, so look out Nottingham!

Well, i've gone and done it!
I've just ordered a Type-R, and its an anniversary one to boot!
(well, it was cheaper than a 'normal' one with air-con!)
Ade- I may need to borrow your sunglasses with the interior being bright red!
Heres the rub though....I'm going to need something sensible for going down dirt tracks (its my job, not a hobby!) so i was thinking toyota hilux. But then i would have 3 cars.....and thats just silly!
Sooooo do i lose the beat? hmmmmmmmmmmmm tricky one!
(by the way, its a red CTR...)

Nah, 3 cars isn't silly, I've done it..... (Twice)
2 Range Rovers and an Opel Monza (Total 10 Litres of Engine capacity)
1 Range Rover, 1 Opel Monza, 1 Opel Senator (9.5 Litres)
Although I limit myself to just 2 now due to lack of parking spaces....
SO...
1)You can't get rid of the beat you've only just got it...
2) The Hilux is for work so a bit of a neccessity...
SO The Civic will just have to go back to the showroom... :p (After a bit of a play of course... lol)
Ady.
