Hi John,

Yep that's the limit for the beat in std restricted form,

Fitting the chip from Japan does aparently remove this but with my rev problem I can't physically confirm it...

Ady.

mine was still going that was about 7/8000 rpm in the lower gears that will rev into the red .

yes it does!

95mph is a bit scary though!

(obviously, i went to germany to try this...........not in the uk as that would be illegal!)

Rev limit gone too, so you have to be a bit careful, mine has hit 10500 a couple of times!

Its a fairly easy job if you are competant at soldering.

If not, you are going to trash your ECU!

I cant remember what they cost, but it wasn't a huge ammount.

I was thinking of doing an exchange service, I have an ECU in for repair at the moment, so I may chip it, test it and then sell it with a condition its swapped for a good, unchipped ecu.

The chip worked out at about £75 through Oz, I'm no electronics wizz but managed it with a solder sucker and a needle point soldering iron.
It's the best thing I've done to my Beat. It improves low speed torque quite noticeably as well as removing the rev and speed limits for minimal fuel consumption.
I did end up with a bit of detonation using cheap fuel but Optimax cured that.
I whimped out somewhere between 100 and 110 (that's mph);)
