Got 45 MPG on my first tank of premium gas since
the engine rebuild!!
Thats not bad considering the octane of the fuel in the states. Unless you are using an octane booster of some sort.

Not bad after an engine rebuild either, things may be a bit stiff.

Our premium is rated 91 octane.....
Did not run any additives... dont hear
any detonation from the engine. Do you suggest
I run a octane booster?

Personally I'd say yes, having switched from 95 to 97 I am getting a genuine 50 miles extra per tank (How much of that is down to other additives I can't say but it's an impressive improvement for no effort). I was getting detonation on acceleration with a project A chip and this cured it.
It's worth a go just to see if things improve.

I will run a few more tanks through to establish a baseline and to get the engine fully broken in and then try some octane booster.
Results in a few weeks!
Wow 91 is very low. Is that the expansive fuel? I would recommend you try a booster and see the difference. Is the car nippy enough?

91 is the highest rated standard fuel in California.
Some stations quote a 92 octane but I suspect it is just the same
stuff and they mix it with water or human waste products:explode: !
We have pretty tough emissions laws here and they have tried to reformulate the fuels to meet the standards.
I dont know why that has affected the octane ratings, but we seem to have the worst fuel in California....
I think it runs pretty good, I am used to driving diesel trucks so anything that is gasoline seems peppy to me!!
Dont hear any detonation from the engine so far.
